Nurses Plus is Illinois licensed and Medicare approved. It is a division of the Health Department. The ‘PLUS’ in our name means high-tech skill combined with tender, loving care by people who are invested in the health of the community. The registered nurses, certified home health aides and other therapists work with your doctor to provide:
- medical social services
- occupational therapy
- personal hygiene care
- physical therapy
- skilled nursing
- speech therapy
We work closely with Rich Township, Hospice Suburban South and the Nurses Club Loan Closet as well as other local service providers. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, or direct fee as payment. Our service area includes Park Forest and all surrounding communities

Businesses that serve food are inspected quarterly to assure compliance with food safety rules and standards. These rules apply to restaurants, grocery stores, take-out food service, day care centers, and temporary food sellers. In Park Forest, laundries, cleaners, barber and beauty shops are also inspected. 
FARMERS MARKET
The Health Department takes an active role at the Park Forest Farmers’ Market. From May through October, we assist vendors and provide nutrition education and recipes to Market customers. Enjoy better health through better nutrition!
ACCESS TO CARE
We are a registration site for this program which provides low cost visits to physicians, pharmacy, lab and x-ray for working low income people. Participants pay a small fee for service. Registration and financial eligibility information is available by phone at 708-748-1118, ask for Brenda.

ADULT HEALTH SERVICES HEALTH EDUCATION
Health Education Seminars are provided at the Health Department offices. Staff will research and respond to general health questions. A Social Worker is available for specific problem solving.
ADULT IMMUNIZATION
The following immunizations are offered to adults: Tetanus and diphtheria; hepatitis A and B; influenza; measles, mumps, rubella, MMR, Varicella, and pneumonia. A fee is charged for all immunizations and lab tests. Clinic is scheduled on Mondays and Fridays. Call for an appointment. We will travel to your work location to immunize and educate work groups.
ADULT HEALTH SCREENING
The following screenings are offered to adults:
TB, Hepatitis B titer and blood pressure. A fee is charged for all tests except blood pressure monitoring. Appointment is required.
WOMEN and MEN SCREENING CLINIC
Annually held in the spring, nurse practitioners available for physical exams, vision testing and cholesterol/ glucose testing offered. An appointment is required. Call 708-748-1118 for more information
VILLAGE NURSE SERVICES
Sometimes people need help with personal hygiene, medicines or medical procedures. Insurance does not pay for “convenience or custodial services.” Bathing, enemas, injections and dressing changes are examples. Please call for a brochure regarding fees for these services.
MORE ADULT HEALTH SERVICES
In addition to adult services, these services are offered to the 65+ age group of adults.
NURSING OFFICE
The Public Health Nurses are available upon request for health screenings for groups of thirty or more with prior arrangement with the public health administrative staff. To request an onsite screening, please call (708) 748-1118.
COMMUNITY NUTRITION NETWORK
The nurse provides free blood pressure and glucose monitoring for lunch participants at the Rich Township Nutrition site, 2nd Thursday, 10:30 AM.
HEALTH STOP
Special screenings are provided by Rich Township at the Shirley Green Center for anyone aged 65 and older. Appointments are not necessary and a small fee is charged for some tests on the 4th Thursday each month, 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon.

CHILDREN AND FAMILY HEALTH
IMMUNIZATION
We provide all required childhood vaccinations. Non-HMO Medicaid also covers immunization. Anyone is welcome to participate in this program. Call for appointment at 748-1118.
SCHOOL AND SPORTS PHYSICALS
Special school physical clinics are scheduled each year during June, July and August. Call for details and registration.
GIFTS AND DONATIONS
We appreciate your charitable financial support, contributions, gifts and bequests. We are a drop-off point for usable medical equipment for the Nurses Club Loan Closet. We also accept supplies in good condition for distribution to the needy.
The Health Department is located at 350 Victory Drive in downtown Park Forest. The office is open 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
